Balancing Act

I was talking with a friend the other day and the subject of stress arose. I had to admit that when it comes to stress, I’m on the low end of the curve. Without a roommate, partner or children, my daily stresses are pretty much limited to bills and traffic.

The sources of our daily stress are often beyond our control, but our response is ours to command. We need to diminish those sources we can, and find an effective response to the stresses we can’t escape. Whether it’s exercise, hobbies or prayer, all  our lives need a reliable stress reliever.

Long term, constant stress is definitely a killer. It exhausts multiple bodily functions, not to mention taking all the joy out of life. When stress is largely absent, life is sweeter and longer.

Don’t underestimate the strain that stress puts on your body, your mind and your soul. Remember Anubis and his day of judgment. Is your heart lighter than a feather?

We all need to lighten up a bit.
