The Games People Play

I recently lost track of my favorite online interactive game. I am in mourning.

I’ve never been very interested in games. I like puzzles—jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, sudoku puzzles, whatever—but I’ve never cared for board games, card games or other such pastimes.

When I [finally] got on Facebook, I began to receive “gifts” from a couple of my friends who were playing FB games. I investigated the first one, just to see what was going on. I quickly decided that these games weren’t to my taste, but I have a surprising number of friends who consider this a high-quality use of their spare time. I’d rather watch paint dry.

I do occasionally play puzzle games online, though, and I frequented one site in particular. One day, as I was signing on, I saw they had added an interactive backgammon site. Now I love playing backgammon—I consider it one of gaming’s finest inventions—but I haven’t had a partner to play with in a long time. I started hanging out in the backgammon lobby, pitting my skills and luck against players from all over the world. I’ve been spending [okay, wasting] a lot of time there in the past few weeks.

After several days of being too busy to play, I visited the site again yesterday. I was dismayed to find it has now merged with another gaming site, one I never liked. I poked around on the site a bit, then resorted to the search box. Apparently, they offer no backgammon site. My little friends can no longer come out and play.

So if you know of a good online interactive backgammon site, please send me a link. I am in mourning. But I’m getting a lot more done around the house!
